About Me

My name is Kari and I love to cook.  Cooking lets me take a step back from the day to day craziness that life can throw at you.  My cooking is gluten-free, allergy aware, and minimally processed.

I grew up cooking with my mom and grandma.  It was a mixture of '80's microwave meals and Julia Childs inspired gourmet.  My passion for cooking resurged after we realized that certain foods made my daughter sick (namely wheat and gluten), and that I felt much better eliminating wheat and processed foods out of my diet as well.  The goal in my house is to enjoy food, and not be limited by it.   Whether it is a simple mozzarella stick from Trader Joe's (seriously amazing!), or a full from scratch gourmet meal for 10, food should be savored and enjoyed.

If you have food allergies, intolerances, or strong dislikes (my sister hates cilantro and I won't make her eat it.) use what foods work for you, and skip the ones that make you fill sick.  I'll indicate substitutions when I've used them, or believe that they can work well.  If not, don't be afraid to play!  I'm not a dietitian, a doctor, or an allergist.  I can't diagnose or say what will work for you and what won't.  There are a lot of people out there who are qualified to do that, call your doctor if you have questions.  However my piece of advice on food is eat what makes you feel good, and don't eat the foods that make you feel bad.  Listen to your body and enjoy cooking eating and trying new foods.
